Returning from Europe to Spread Knowledge and Inspiration in Electrical & Electronics Engineering
April 7, 2026
After more than 15 years of studying, researching, and working in Europe, Dr. Tran Minh Nhut – a Norwegian-Vietnamese lecturer – has decided to return to Vietnam to continue his career in teaching, research, and contributing to higher education. For him, this is not just a return home, but a journey of bringing back knowledge, international experience, and a strong aspiration to contribute to the younger generation in the field of Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

“Dr. Tran Minh Nhut – a Norwegian-Vietnamese Lecturer”
Before going abroad, Dr. Tran Minh Nhut was an outstanding student at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and was retained as a lecturer immediately after graduating as an engineer. Building on that solid foundation, he received a scholarship to Norway, where he successfully completed his Master’s, Ph.D., and Postdoctoral programs. This persistent academic journey reflects his strong commitment to knowledge, intellectual rigor, and professional excellence.
Returning to Vietnam under the talent recruitment program of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, Dr. Tran Minh Nhut brings with him a modern, open, and approachable educational mindset. According to him, a university lecturer must possess both deep expertise and effective teaching ability. A teacher not only needs to fully understand a subject but also be able to help students grasp it clearly and develop long-term learning motivation.
As he shared:
“A university lecturer is not only someone who understands deeply, but also someone who helps others understand deeply. For me, expertise is the foundation, while teaching is the bridge that delivers knowledge to students.”

“Dr. Tran Minh Nhut attentively guiding students”
From this perspective, Dr. Tran Minh Nhut always emphasizes building a positive learning environment in the classroom. He believes that the gap between lecturers and students often lies not in knowledge, but in teaching methods and the learning atmosphere. When students hesitate to ask questions or fear making mistakes, even the most accurate and profound lectures may fail to truly reach them.
Therefore, in every class, he continuously adapts his teaching approach to be more approachable, engaging, and student-friendly. Complex Electrical and Electronics concepts are presented clearly and connected to real-world applications, helping students understand more easily, retain knowledge longer, and stay motivated to explore further. He also encourages students to ask questions, viewing confusion as a natural part of the learning process.
Speaking about students, he shared:
“I always believe that every student has the ability to improve if given the right guidance and enough effort. What matters is not where you start, but whether you persist until the end.”
If students were to describe him in three words, he hopes they would be: “clear – approachable – inspiring.”
Clear, so students can understand; approachable, so they feel comfortable asking questions; and inspiring, so learning continues beyond the classroom.
Dr. Tran Minh Nhut’s return is a journey shaped by responsibility, dedication, and a strong belief in education. In this Electrical and Electronics lecturer, one sees not only deep expertise and devotion to students, but also a genuine desire to help shape a brighter future for Vietnam’s younger generation.
